John Liang

John Liang is a Guatemala-born U.S. citizen of Chinese-Spanish-Irish-French-English-German-Dutch descent and was raised in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Connecticut, Morocco and Egypt due to his father's job at Xerox Corporation. He currently lives in Northern Virginia outside of Washington DC. John has a Bachelor's degree in languages from Georgetown University and a Master's in International Relations from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. A journalist for the past 20 years, John has written for publications as diverse as The Tico Times in San Jose, Costa Rica and the Coast Weekly in Monterey, California. He is currently a managing editor at Inside Washington Publishers' Defense Group, editing and writing stories on nonproliferation issues for Inside Missile Defense as well as maintaining the website InsideDefense.com. John is also news editor for DeeperBlue.com, a freediving, scuba diving and spearfishing website. 

John has served on the FIGT Board since October 2013.
