Who are we?
We’re Families in Global Transition (FIGT) a United States non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of Texas and recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit under the US Internal Revenue Code.
How do we collect information from you?
We obtain information from you when you enter information into our website, for example, when you become a member, register for an event or sign up for our newsletters. In addition you may email us directly, or provide information at one of our in-person events.
What type of information is collected from you?
The personal information we collect may include your name, email address and country of residence as well as other optional demographic information and personal details you provide when submitting a proposal to speak at a conference, or work as a volunteer. If you make an online payment, your credit or debit card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors, who specialize in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions.

We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We are required to hold some types of information to fulfill our legal obligations (eg to maintain our non-profit status). We review your personal information annually and delete it if it is no longer required.
Who has access to your information?
We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.
We will not share your contact information with third parties without your express permission. We may share anonymized demographic information with carefully selected third parties (eg sponsors).
FIGT staff and volunteers who have signed a confidentiality agreement may have access to your information, when required. Our accountant has access to your payment details (but not your credit/debit card numbers) for bookkeeping purposes and for preparing our annual IRS (Internal Revenue Service) returns.
Where is your information stored?
Our administration is virtual and all our data is stored online. As such it may be stored on servers in different countries. By submitting your personal data, you’re agreeing to this transfer, storing or processing. We carefully select our providers to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken to protect your privacy rights as outlined in this Policy.
Your choices
We will only collect information from you that is necessary and store it only for the period it is required. We will ask for your express consent whenever your information is requested, using an opt-in method. If you wish to have your information edited or deleted, at any time, please log in to our website and do so yourself, or contact our Administrator at admin@figt.org for assistance. We will comply with your request within 2 weeks, usually within 5 business days.
